Twenty-One Modaks

What works best

The traditional offering, counted out: twenty-one modaks placed one at a time on a brass thali, each carrying a wish for the year — no obstacles, a full house, good health. Slow and deliberate at first, then they rattle in. Durva round the rim, a jaswand in the middle, and the plate settles at Bappa's feet. Add photos and the family sits round the leaf as small portraits. Ends on twenty-one modaks for whoever you name, with your final photo large above Bappa.
